Golden West shows support to Historic Fort Pierre to Deadwood Trail Ride

By: Jody Bielmaier, Member Services Manager

The committee of the 2008 Fort Pierre to Deadwood Trail presented Golden West Telecommunications of Wall, SD a limited, signed, and numbered print painting that was commissioned by the Verendrye Museum of Fort Pierre. The painting, made by noted artist Mick Harrison, was given in appreciation of Golden West’s supporting contribution to the historic trail ride.

The trail ride will start on July 30th at Fort Pierre and end in Deadwood on August 15th. The 17 day ride will consist of approximately 47-50 animal drawn wagons and 200 horse riders traveling the original Fort Pierre to Deadwood Trail.

Local people and tourists are invited to view the train, listen to historic talks, and join in the meals and entertainment that will be presented at each evening stop.

Representatives of the project deeply appreciate Golden West’s contribution that not only supports the historic ride and the Verendrye Museum of Fort Pierre, but also the cities of Fort Pierre, Deadwood, and all the original weigh stations along the route.
