Gregory County Development Corp. receives $5,000 Golden West economic development award

HERRICK – Gregory County Development Corp. received a $5,000 economic development award from Golden West Telecommunications on March 5.

The development group plans to use the money to help with a large-scale wind energy development effort. Specifically, the development corporation plans to use the money to create a landowners’ association and to pay for some landowner education about how to deal with wind development companies.

Golden West General Manager Denny Law said he wants the Golden West Economic Development Program to foster economic growth in rural South Dakota.

“Golden West is proud to be a partner with Gregory County Development Corp. and other similar groups across South Dakota in building strong rural communities,” said Law. “We know it takes dedicated, hard-working individuals to create true economic development. We hope that the Golden West funds make it a little easier for those folks to achieve their goals.”

Golden West Telecommunications has provided economic development grants to communities across South Dakota for the past 12 years.
