Golden West is working to bring broadband internet access to you!

Golden West's fiber-optic network connection will allow you to perform everyday activities online more easily for education, business, healthcare, entertainment, and more.

CHR Solutions, a contractor working for Golden West, is currently staking the project. For your safety, every CHR Solutions worker has a Golden West name badge. After all necessary easements and right-of-way agreements are secured, construction will start in 2024. Residents who pre-order service should have a broadband connection by late 2024.

If you are interested in a broadband internet connection from Golden West with speed options from 250 Mbps to up to 1 Gig, complete the form below. Pricing is still to be determined.

PRESS RELEASE

Grant will help Golden West bring broadband to area northwest of Yankton

Golden West will begin work soon to bring broadband internet access to an area starting about 3 miles north and west of Yankton thanks in part to funding from the State of South Dakota.

The project will cover about 28 square miles and will connect over 150 households to much-needed broadband. Upon completion, residents here will have access to speed options from 250 Mbps to up to 1 Gbps.

“A fiber optic connection opens a whole host of opportunities for residents,” says Golden West CEO Denny Law. “It makes it easier to perform everyday activities online for things like education, business, healthcare, and entertainment.”

The southeast corner of the project area starts about a mile north of the Double T Truck Stop along U.S. Hwy. 81 north of Yankton. At its widest and tallest spot, the irregularly shaped area continues about six miles north and west and connects to Golden West’s current Lesterville service area. See map for details.

The state awarded Golden West $1.77 million for this project from the Connect SD broadband program. This supports about 75% of the project; Golden West will cover the remainder of the cost.

Golden West will work with contractors to construct fiber optic infrastructure to all customers in the project area.

On behalf of Golden West, CHR Solutions will begin staking for the project soon. After all necessary easements and rights-of-way agreements are secured, construction will start in 2024. Residents who preorder service should have a broadband connection by late 2024. Visit goldenwest.com/ftth for more information about the construction process.
