Jeff Nielsen
District IX
Jeff Nielsen joined the Golden West Board of Directors in February 2010 following the expansion of the cooperative to include the Golden West customers who were not already members of the cooperative.
Along with his wife, Janine, Nielsen owns and operates Total Stop Food Stores. Headquartered in Canistota, the convenience and grocery store includes locations in Emery, Centerville, Alcester, Lennox and Beresford.
Nielsen grew up in Viborg, SD and graduated with a degree in business administration from the University of South Dakota, before serving as a lieutenant with the U.S. Army in Germany. After working for a year in Dallas, Texas, Jeff and Janine came back to South Dakota to raise their children.
Jeff has served on the Canistota school board, was active in the town’s economic development group and the Canistota Community Foundation.
