  • Travis Electric has completed Phase 2 wiring in the Canistota exchange.  Thank you to the community for you help during the fiber upgrade project!

  • Wiring in the central office should be completed soon for addresses in the rural part of the exchange. Customers outside of town will receive a letter from Golden West to notify them that Travis Electric will be calling them to schedule a cut over appointment.

  • Engbarth Directional Drilling is testing fibers in the rural part of the exchange. After testing, Golden West will connect the fibers in the central office. Rural customers will receive a letter from Golden West to notify them when Travis Electric can start scheduling installations.

  • Travis Electric plans to begin scheduling Phase 2 wiring appointments for customers in town. They will begin connecting customers to the new fiber network on October 18th.

September 16, 2021

  • Engbarth Directional Drilling has finished splicing and testing fiber in the town of Canistota. Town customers will receive a letter from Golden West in the next few weeks to notify them that Travis Electric will be calling them to set up an installation appointment to connect them to the new fiber optic system.
  • All construction is complete. The contractor is currently splicing and testing the fibers in the rural part of the exchange.

September 9, 2021

  • Engbarth Directional Drilling has finished splicing and testing fiber in the town of Canistota. Town customers will receive a letter from Golden West in the next few weeks to notify them that Travis Electric will be calling them to set up an installation appointment to connect them to the new fiber optic system.
  • EDD has completed plowing mainline fiber and lines to customers in the rural part of the exchange. They are now splicing and testing the new fiber optic cables.

August 27, 2021

  • The next construction update will be posted the week of September 6th. Have a safe and relaxing Labor Day holiday!

  • EDD has completed main line construction in the rural Canistota area. They have completed cleanup. In the coming week they will pull fiber lines through pipes that were buried to customer homes.

August 19, 2021

  • Engbarth Directional Drilling has finished splicing and testing fiber in the town of Canistota. The next step is for Golden West technicians to  complete the wiring at the Golden West central office.
  • Town customers will receive a letter from Golden West in the next few weeks to notify them that Travis Electric will be calling them to set up an installation appointment to connect them to the new fiber optic system.
  • EDD is nearly finished with plowing in the rural part of the exchange. They are currently working west of town.

  • Rural construction is underway along 259th Street northeast of town, heading back toward 446th Avenue.

June 10, 2021

  • Engbarth Directional Drilling (EDD) will finish plowing lines to individual premises, or drops, in the coming week. Crews are pulling cables into the duct that has been buried in town.
  • EDD has moved to the rural part of the exchange, plowing along 450th Avenue. They will move to 261st Street, then head back toward town.

  • Engbarth Directional Drilling will finish burying mainline orange duct in the area shown in blue on the map (Construction Area 1), then move their equipment to the area shown in purple (Construction Area 2).

  • Construction is underway in the town of Canistota. Engbarth Directional Drilling will be starting work along Railway Avenue from Oak Street to Main Street, then will move east along Main Street to East Street. They will proceed north to Willow (261st ) Street.
  • EDD will also be working in the alley between Oak and Pine Streets from Railway Avenue to Third Street, then between Pine and Main Streets from Railway Avenue to Third Street. Drop crews will plow lines to premises behind the main line construction.
  • Travis Electric is scheduling installation of clamshells on homes and businesses in the town of Canistota. They will move to the rural part of the exchange when they have completed work in town.
