The Hot Springs Southwest (rural) will be upgraded to fiber in 2025. This will complete the upgrade of the Hot Springs exchange.

Project Updates:

February 19, 2026 

  • Vantage Point is upgrading customers to fiber. They will be doing installs in the area for the next several weeks.
  • If you have questions about the Fiber to the Home project or scheduling an upgrade installation, please call Golden West at 1-855-888-7777, option 3, and ask for the engineering department.   

February 12, 2026 

  • Scheduled installs for the past week were cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. Vantage Point has rescheduled these appointments.
  • Vantage Point will have a technician resume installations starting next Tuesday.
  • If you have questions about the Fiber to the Home project or scheduling an upgrade installation, please call Golden West at 1-855-888-7777, option 3, and ask for the engineering department.  

February 5, 2026 

  • All customer addresses have been released to Vantage Point for scheduling.
  • Installations for the remainder of this week have been rescheduled due to an unexpected change to the work plan. Vantage Point has contacted the affected customers to reschedule for the earliest available appointment.

January 29, 2026 

  • All fiber splicing, testing, and repairs are complete.
  • Customers who have not yet been notified that their address is ready to be upgraded to fiber should receive letters from Golden West in the next few days.
  • Vantage Point has been cutting over customers from service on copper to fiber.

January 22, 2026 

  • All of the new fibers have been spliced.
  • Fiber testing will be completed this week.  Once all the remaining cables have been tested and reviewed, they will be released for connecting service at customer premises.
  • Customers will receive a letter from Golden West when their address is ready to be cut over.
  • In areas where the fiber has been tested and released for cut over, Vantage Point is completing the inside wiring necessary to convert customers to fiber optic service.

January 15, 2026 

  • MasTec is finishing cleanup. They will return in the spring to address any restoration that becomes necessary.
  • Splicers are continuing to splice and test the new fiber. They expect to be finished this week.
  • As more cables are completely spliced and tested, more sections of the project will be ready for customers to be upgraded to fiber. Customers will receive a letter from Golden West when their address is ready to be cut over.
  • In areas where the fiber has been tested and released for cut over, Vantage Point is completing the inside wiring necessary to convert customers to fiber optic service.
