There may be large emails that are being downloaded. There may also be a POP lock on the mailbox. A POP lock is a mailbox lock that usually occurs due to the following reasons:
- Mail is corrupted
- Mailbox is substantially large
- Mailbox has received a large attachment
- Interrupted download of messages
- Anti-Virus scanning.
