Starting this year, Golden West will replace the fiber-optic cables within the town of Gregory that were first installed two decades ago. The 2026 project will follow updated construction practices to ensure your fast, reliable connection remains strong for many decades to come.
Construction will not impact your internet connection.
Construction will begin in early April with an expected completion date by the end of the year. The work should not interfere with your connection.

- Travis Electric began cut over installations this week.
- Addresses in the northeast part of town are ready to be upgraded.
- Engineers are reviewing splice test results for the southwest area of town.
- Customers will receive a letter from Golden West when their address can be scheduled for an installation.

July 23, 2026
- Ripley’s has completed pulling cables and splicing in Gregory.
- Travis Electric has been scheduling installations for customers whose homes and businesses are ready to be upgraded.
- Engineers are reviewing splice test results and releasing more addresses for cut over. Customers will receive a letter from Golden West when their address can be scheduled for an installation.

July 16, 2026
- Ripley’s has one crew working in Gregory this week. They are pulling cables through the previously buried duct, splicing, and testing.
- Customers whose homes or businesses are ready to upgrade will receive a letter from Golden West to inform them that Travis Electric will be calling to schedule an installation.
- Installations will begin the week of July 27.

July 9, 2026
- Ripley’s has completed construction. Most crews and equipment have moved out of Gregory.
- A splicing crew will continue working in town to pull fibers into buried duct, splice, and test the new fibers.
- Customers whose homes or businesses are ready to upgrade will receive a letter from Golden West to inform them that Travis Electric will be calling to schedule an installation.

July 2, 2026
- Ripley’s Inc. will finish construction next week.
- Splicers will continue working in vaults and connecting fibers at customer premises.
- Golden West technicians are splicing fibers in the Golden West building downtown. Techs are also testing electronic equipment.
- The remaining crew and engineering consultants will be leaving for the 4th of July weekend today. They will return next week to complete construction, pick up equipment, and finish any cleanup needed.
June 25, 2026
- Ripley’s has completed all mainline construction in Gregory.
- One crew working will be working this week on pulling fibers to customer premises. They will be located on 9th Street up to E 14th Street, Logan Avenue, and Rice Avenue.
- There will be multiple mini-excavators, backhoes, and work trucks in the vicinity. They will be boring and digging in orange conduits that will contain the new fiber optics once they are finished.
- Golden West technicians are working in the central office downtown. They are installing electronic equipment and splicing fibers.

- The crews will be located on E 14th Street and Church, Whittecar, Logan, Felton, Spencer, and Rice Avenues.
- They will be boring and digging in orange conduits that will have the new fiber optics in them once they are finished.
- There will be multiple mini-excavators, backhoes, and work trucks in the work areas.
- Fiber splicers are pulling cables through the previously buried duct.
