Starting this year, Golden West will replace the fiber-optic cables within the town of Gregory that were first installed two decades ago. The 2026 project will follow updated construction practices to ensure your fast, reliable connection remains strong for many decades to come.

Construction will not impact your internet connection.
Construction will begin in early April with an expected completion date by the end of the year. The work should not interfere with your connection.

Golden West will upgrade addresses within Gregory Town.

Contractors:

  • Engineering Consultant – Heberly & Associates
  • Construction Contractor – Ripley's Inc.

Project updates:

April 23, 2026

  • Ripley’s will have three separate crews working in Gregory.
  • The crews will be located on W 3rd Street, E 3rd Street, Nepper Street, Jones Street, and Park Avenue. They will be boring and digging in orange conduits that will have the new fiber optics in them once they are finished. The crews will be working on the following streets next: US Highway 19, Whittecar Avenue, SD Highway 251, and E 1st Street.
  • Ripley’s employees will be off Friday through Monday. Construction will resume on Tuesday, April 28th.

April 16, 2026

  • Ripley’s has been moving crews and material into Gregory.
  • Construction began this week, with crews working in several locations in town.
  • Easements have been sent to landowners. Please call the number below with any questions and we will connect you with the right of way agent for Heberly & Associates.
